At Waitangaru Falls, a section of track has eroded below the lookout. A barrier is now in place and visitors should not progress past it.

The Mangaotaki Valley boasts stunning limestone outcrops and rugged landscape, which are reflected in the Waitanguru Falls walk. This short Waikato Walk is a great family outing, just minutes out of the rural town of Piopio.

A further 11km along Mangaotaki Road, the Waitanguru Falls Walk is an easy short trail down to a viewing platform looking out to the stunning waterfall. This walk also allows for dog walking (with a permit).
