Howarth Memorial Wetlands Walk Te Aroha

Months of operation
All Year
The Waikato region boasts a variety of great wetlands' walks, including the Howarth Memorial Wetlands Walk in Te Aroha.

Once a swamp used as a rubbish dump, the now wildlife refuge provides great bird watching opportunities with the likes of grey teal, kingfisher, pied stilt, white-faced heron, pukeko and black shag all calling the wetlands home.

The easy one hour Waikato walk includes a boardwalk and great views out over the wetlands.

Getting there: Access from various locations: Via the footbridge at the end of Lawrence Ave; via the boardwalk at Kenwyn Reserve on Kenrick Street; or off Spure Street.

Please Note: Many of the walking trails in the Waikato region do not allow dogs. Hamilton & Waikato Tourism recommend checking with the local council before taking your dog on any of the trails in the region.
