Get into the Ngahere - Tui-Domain track Mt Te Aroha

Located only 7 minutes from central Te Aroha and under an hour’s drive from Hamilton or Tauranga, Get into the Ngahere is a free, self-guided digital walking experience on the Tui Domain Track.

Starting from Te Aroha Domain, the experience combines a native bush walk with digital storytelling about Mount Te Aroha, its history, natural environment and conservation.

Developed by Manaaki Kaimai Mamaku Trust for Ngāti Tumutumu, the experience uses location-based technology to share stories and information as you walk from Te Aroha Domain towards the Hamilton Street Track.

How does Get into the Ngahere work?

Scan the QR code at the track, or click this link or download the free PickPath app and search for ‘Get into the Ngahere’. With location services switched on, digital content is triggered at different points along the walk, allowing you to explore at your own pace.

What is the Tui Domain Track like?

The bush track follows the lower slopes of Mount Te Aroha and includes hills and uneven ground. A reasonable level of fitness is required. Follow the green wayfinding markers and take care where the walking track crosses mountain bike trails. The track is not suitable for wheelchairs or prams.

Getting there

The walk starts from Te Aroha Domain, behind the Mokena Geyser. Parking is available on Whitaker Street and Koromiko Street, with longer-term parking available on Boundary Street.

Dogs on the Tui Domain Track

Dogs are permitted on lead on the Tui-Domain Track but are not permitted on the connected Department of Conservation tracks.
