Outdoor sculpture gallery set within a 42-acre rehabilitated hard-rock quarry that is now an extensive arboretum and garden. The Sculpture park is also a Event venue perfect for Team Building, external Management meetings and celebrations.
Carved out of a hillside, this 42 acre former hard rock quarry has been transformed into a magnificent park with collections of trees and shrubs from around the world. The dramatic landscape provides the setting for the more than 70 sculptures on display - the park is the most extensive outdoor sculpture gallery in New Zealand. Featuring three new curated exhibitions per year, the park is open every day of the year.
All weather walking tracks (sturdy shoes recommended) and ample parking; most sections accessible by wheelchair.
The self-guided tour of at least 2km, provides a full-on sensory experience.

Carve Your Own Pekapeka
Carve your own traditional Māori pendant - the pekapeka: named after the native bat. This workshop is designed with entry-level carvers in mind, but some carving experience is highly recommended, and will take a minimum of 7 - 8 hrs. In this workshop, we will cover the cultural history of the form, the tools and skills necessary for stone-carving and will guide participants through the process of creating a pounamu pekapeka. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a fully completed and bound pekapeka to take home.
