A Landscape Shaped by Centuries. The Waipā District is far more than rolling farmland and quiet river plains. It is a deeply layered cultural landscape where generations of human activity, innovation, and connection are written into the land itself.
This exhibition invites visitors to explore the Waipā District as a living cultural heartland, where archaeology offers insight into centuries of Māori life, movement, and relationship with the river. Through artefacts, landscapes, and stories, it reveals how the past continues to shape identity, memory, and place in the present.
