Stitch in Time invites visitors to explore sewing machines, local memories, and the stories held in everyday objects. Connected to the Museum's Collection Rationalisation Project, this free display opens a conversation about why museums collect, how objects are cared for, and how decisions are made about what remains for future generations. Whether you remember sewing at home, learned to stitch at school, or enjoy local history, this display offers a thoughtful look at making, memory, and collection care.

The Waikato river is on the boundary, the Narrows golf course is next door and Mystery Creek and the Hamilton Airport are 2minutes away. Offering over 100 beds, plus buildings the Narrows is also ideal for accommodating groups. This is a great spot to base yourself for sports tournaments, Mystery Creek events or when you just want a bit of country space to see the stars at night. Peeks of Pirongia is a short 25-minute drive from the heart of Hamilton city. Set in farmland surroundings, with Kahikatea bush and mature shelterbelts nearby, you'll feel immersed in nature. Gentle views across fields reach all the way to the magnificent Mt Pirongia - often silhouetted by a glowing sunset at the end of the day. The interior of the safari tent is serene and stylish, with every detail considered. The space contains a comfortable super-king-size bed and sofa for lounging. A fully equipped kitchenette is positioned to the side of the spacious deck - right outside. The outdoor bathroom is conveniently located just a short 5-metre walk from the tent via a decked walkway. Peace and tranquillity permeate every corner here.

The Oar & Paddle

The Oarhouse

We are now able to offer our newly completed stand alone Chalet called The Oarhouse with a much envied aspect overlooking Lake Karapiro. It has two suites each with either one Californian bed plus one single or three single beds for up to 6 guests. Each suite has its own en-suite. There is a large lounge / dining room with schist fireplace, full kitchen, separate laundry, carport and extensive decking overlooking the lake. We feel The Oar House would not be out of place amongst New Zealand’s finest.
