Just slightly further afield, & all within a 40min drive, you can access the Waikato River Trails at Arapuni, Arapuni Lake, the Maungatautari Sanctuary Mountain or Hobbiton in Matamata. The main centers of Rotorua, Taupo, Hamilton and Tauranga and their various attractions are also all within 1 hrs drive.
