The quaint settlement of Cambridge is close by. We were particularly drawn to the areas natural beauty, as was Peter Jackson when he chose to film his magical Hobbits here. However, it was the mighty Waikato river, woodland walks and verdant fields, home to New Zealand’s pre-eminent thoroughbred horse industry that drew us in. Following the devastating 2011 ‘quakes, we missed hosting and felt that this new ‘Hadleigh’ was really quite superb, a place we would be proud to share with our guests.

The sensitively restored and renovated building is being transformed into a boutique hotel featuring 29 guest rooms and complemented by extensive Food & Beverage (F&B) operations. Steeped in history, this property is iconic and promises to become a popular weekend dining destination with locals; opening soon, the plush basement bar will have a prohibition era vibe with an extensive cocktail list and the restaurant serves contemporary cuisine, inspired by the local Cambridge food scene, using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Original features within the hotel include a magnificent sweeping staircase, stunning stained-glass, parquet flooring, high ceilings, and luxurious furnishings creating a refined and relaxed atmosphere.

Peeks of Pirongia is a short 25-minute drive from the heart of Hamilton city. Set in farmland surroundings, with Kahikatea bush and mature shelterbelts nearby, you'll feel immersed in nature. Gentle views across fields reach all the way to the magnificent Mt Pirongia - often silhouetted by a glowing sunset at the end of the day. The interior of the safari tent is serene and stylish, with every detail considered. The space contains a comfortable super-king-size bed and sofa for lounging. A fully equipped kitchenette is positioned to the side of the spacious deck - right outside. The outdoor bathroom is conveniently located just a short 5-metre walk from the tent via a decked walkway. Peace and tranquillity permeate every corner here.

Narrows Park is Hamilton's most affordable and only rural holiday park set on 27 acres with cabin accommodation, powered sites and acres of tenting. It is ideal for group accommodation or individual campers 10min from Hamilton City. The Waikato river is on the boundary, the Narrows golf course is next door and Mystery Creek and the Hamilton Airport are 2minutes away. Offering over 100 beds, plus buildings the Narrows is also ideal for accommodating groups. This is a great spot to base yourself for sports tournaments, Mystery Creek events or when you just want a bit of country space to see the stars at night. YWCA Hamilton provides single and twin share hostel accommodation for both women and men in our central city location. With a quiet location within an easy walk to city center, sports stadium, theatres, Waikato Hospital and Wintec, with vistas over the city the YWCA Hostel is a great location to stay. Backpackers $50 per night including bedding, linen, basic kitchen utensils, parking and WIFI. Rooms are also rented for longer periods starting from $195 per week in a single room (security deposit required). Good value for money the hostel is clean and tidy and has a friendly, international atmosphere. If you are looking for budget accommodation, you do not need to look any further.
