Māhoe Cabin is located in the Waikato, 17 minutes from Morrinsville, 1 hour and 35 minutes from Auckland City, or 35 minutes from Hamilton City. The cabin consists of a fully enclosed bedroom with a simple but lovely interior. Nordic spruce lines the walls and beautiful natural linens and fibres adorn the bed. Directly outside the bedroom is an outdoor living and kitchen area. An outdoor fire with a mini bread/pizza oven is the perfect place to sit in the evening and watch the birds flitting through the wetlands. The spacious bathroom is next to the bedroom and accessed via the deck. Māhoe Cabin is the ideal way to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and get a much-needed dose of nature.

Set on 5 acres, Hadleigh is accessed down a rural lane, the tranquil setting belies its proximity to Hamilton city’s, renowned gardens and busy night life. The quaint settlement of Cambridge is close by. We were particularly drawn to the areas natural beauty, as was Peter Jackson when he chose to film his magical Hobbits here. However, it was the mighty Waikato river, woodland walks and verdant fields, home to New Zealand’s pre-eminent thoroughbred horse industry that drew us in. Following the devastating 2011 ‘quakes, we missed hosting and felt that this new ‘Hadleigh’ was really quite superb, a place we would be proud to share with our guests.

Only a short walk to Days Park and River walks, 5 minute drive to St Andrews Golf course, 5 minute drive to Hamilton Pools, 5 minute drive to either town or The Base Shopping Centre, 10 minute drive to Waikato Stadium and 10 minute drive to Globox Arena. The original homestead was known in the area for the beautiful cottage gardens and specimen trees. There are some beautiful examples of a hundred plus year old Kauri, Copper beech and magnificent magnolia trees which the tui love to visit. During its history, there have been many families live in the villa with each generation adding their love and attention to the property. The bedrooms that are lovingly restored are named from the families or significant aspects of its history. There are many Victorian features in the villa including original tiled fireplaces, polished floors, leadlight windows and doors and high ceilings. Fully renovated June 2019.
