Villa Walton offers elegant and relaxing accommodation within our historic homestead established 1904. Set in picturesque Matamata, overlooking local Dairy Farms and the Kaimai Ranges. Centrally located to Hobbiton.
The original homestead was known in the area for the beautiful cottage gardens and specimen trees. There are some beautiful examples of a hundred plus year old Kauri, Copper beech and magnificent magnolia trees which the tui love to visit. During its history, there have been many families live in the villa with each generation adding their love and attention to the property. The bedrooms that are lovingly restored are named from the families or significant aspects of its history. There are many Victorian features in the villa including original tiled fireplaces, polished floors, leadlight windows and doors and high ceilings. Fully renovated June 2019.

Your guide will take you on a tour of the historic town of Te Aroha where you will learn about some of the rich culture, history and wild geology of the area. The tour then travels to Waiorongomi to where a gold mining settlement used to thrive. Once at your departure point on the Waihou River you will be given expert instruction on how to navigate your kayak down the river safely. Cycle Hauraki & Waikato River Trail - Women Only Tour

Begin your tour in the beautiful town of Cambridge and ride the new Te Awa trail to Tamahere. Visits will be made to the world-renowned Hamilton Gardens, a horse stud, and the Velodrome. Day 3 - cycling from Kaiaua along the Firth of Thames past migratory birds, and on to historic Thames. Day 4 cycle across farmland to Paeroa where L&P and antique shops await. Day 5 - scenic cycle through the stunning Karangahake Gorge to Waihi Beach. Day 6 is a rest day. Day 7 includes cycling and walking in the gorge before riding across farmland to Te Aroha where you'll see the world's only natural soda water geyser. Day 8 - cycle across farmland to Matamata and along the Waikato River Trail before ending back in Cambridge for our last night.
