Is it free to list my eatery?

Yes. It is free to submit your eatery and there is no cost to have an approved business listing on waikatonz.com.

Hamilton & Waikato Tourism does not charge commission on bookings, enquiries, referrals or sales generated through your website listing.

Does submitting my eatery guarantee a listing?

No. Submission does not guarantee publication.

All submissions are reviewed to make sure they meet the listing criteria and are suitable for waikatonz.com.

What types of businesses can submit a listing?

Eligible businesses may include restaurants, cafés, bars, eateries, food experiences and other visitor-facing food and beverage venues in the Hamilton & Waikato region.

Your business should be relevant to visitors, event delegates or people exploring the region.

How long does approval take?

Our team will review your submission within 2-5 business days.

Once we’ve reviewed your submission, we’ll email you to let you know the outcome or to request more information if needed.

What information do I need to provide?

You'll need to provide key business details such as your business name, address, contact information, website, description, opening hours and images.

You may also be asked to provide information about accessibility, dietary options, bookings or group suitability where relevant.

Can I update my listing after it is published?

Yes. If your listing details change, please contact us so we can review and update the information.

Can I submit more than one eatery?

Yes, if you operate more than one eligible venue, you can submit each business for consideration.

Each venue should have its own submission with accurate details and images.

Why might a listing be declined?

A listing may be declined if the business does not meet the eligibility criteria, is outside the Hamilton & Waikato Tourism RTO boundary, is not visitor-facing, provides incomplete information, or is not considered suitable for the website.

Hamilton & Waikato Tourism reserves the right to approve or decline listings at its discretion.

Will my listing be promoted on social media or in campaigns?

A listing on waikatonz.com does not guarantee inclusion in social media, marketing campaigns, media activity or other promotional opportunities.

However, approved listings may support visitor planning and may be considered for relevant activity where appropriate.

What kind of images should I provide?

Please provide high-quality, current images that show your venue, food, atmosphere or visitor experience.

Images should be clear, well-lit and suitable for public use. You must have permission to supply the images and allow them to be used on waikatonz.com.

Are there paid opportunities to increase my visibility?

Yes. Hamilton & Waikato Tourism offers membership opportunities for eligible hospitality businesses, which may include an elevated listing or additional visibility on waikatonz.com.

A standard approved business listing is free. Membership opportunities are optional and separate from the free listing process.

What is the difference between a standard listing and an elevated listing?

A standard approved business listing is free.

An elevated listing may provide additional visibility on waikatonz.com, such as being featured more prominently or marked as a favourite.

Why am I seeing a “Page isn’t working” message after uploading images and clicking next?

This may happen if the images uploaded do not meet the form requirements.

Please check that your images are:

  • Between 1MB and 10MB each

  • In landscape orientation

  • Uploaded in the correct image fields

You can upload:

  • One main image

  • Up to 10 gallery images

Once you’ve checked your image sizes and orientation, try uploading them again and continuing with the form.
