1 Mar 19: What’s on the Menu at Feast Waikato

Tickets to Waikato Food Inc’s inaugural Feast Waikato (April 5-7th) are now on sale. The menu for this wonderful weekend in the Waikato includes free foodie movies in the central city, exciting dinners, brunches and lunches, workshops, talks and even a foodie quiz.

Run by food and hospitality promotion group Waikato Food Inc, the weekend-long Feast (April 5-7) will showcase some of the region’s finest culinary offerings.

Kicking off the weekend is the much-anticipated CBD Events Progressive dinner.  Waikato Food Inc chairperson, Vicki Ravlich-Horan, says “this is sure to sell out as we have had a lot of excitement around the idea.”  The progressive dinner, which starts at the award-winning Palate restaurant for canapes continues down the main street to Mr Pickles and Dough Bros for entrée and main respectively before finishing at Gothenburg for dessert.  Vicki says the dinner will highlight what Feast weekend is all about: “We want to present the depth and breadth of food and hospitality in the Waikato.  It’s also a chance for local businesses to work together, to do something different, and have some fun.”

Over the weekend there will be over 20 events from talks at Hamilton Gardens Kitchen Garden to a Pop Up vegetarian dinner at Yalla Yalla Cafe.  There are workshops on cooking the perfect steak, eggs and pairing chocolate and tea.  Hayes Common have a Feast Fiesta on the Saturday night while Mr Pickles have joined forces with WonderHorse for a boozy brunch.  Good George are opening the brewery doors on the Sunday while The Local Taphouse are putting on a high tea with a difference.

“We know that locals will embrace the idea. And hope to whet their appetite and grow this every year” says Vicki.
