HWT have developed a varied range of workshops that we hope you will find beneficial.

Hamilton & Waikato Tourism are pleased to utilise part of our Tourism Support, Recovery and Reset (TSRR) funding to provide direct support to tourism operators in the mighty Waikato by offering capability building opportunities. The 2022 schedule of workshops including the HWT Industry Symposium will continue to be updated here.


Join us for an engaging workshop with Kylie Mulinder from Bare Kiwi - a self-taught travel content creator and GoPro ambassador – to learn how to create quality and effective content for your various social marketing channels. Participants learn how to create professional photos and videos using their phone, work with influencers and utilise content, the power of stories and more.

This workshop has been developed for media spokespeople either new to the role, or existing people who want to brush up on their media skills for television, radio, online or print. Participants learn how to appear and feel confident during interviews, preparing for media interviews, how to ensure their points get reported and how to avoid being misquoted or taken out of context.

This is a practical workshop tailored for tourism operators which will also give you a chance to test your skills with our media experts.

Kirikiriroa – Hamilton Ambassador Programme is a course designed for people engaging with both New Zealand as well as international visitors who come to Hamilton and the wider Waikato. The purpose is to help create storytellers and ambassadors who can connect with people and authentically engage with what all New Zealanders understand as ‘manaakitanga’ and ‘kaitiakitanga’.
