HWT will be holding a symposium for industry on Tuesday 4 April 2023. Register now


The Hamilton & Waikato Tourism invites tourism operators to a full-day programme, a not-to-be-missed professional development and networking opportunity.

The day will include inspiring and thought-provoking presentations from New Zealand’s Tourism Export Council, a host of compelling speakers, and some exciting updates on Waikato’s Destination activities.

Lynda Keene, Tourism Export Council
Lynda Keene is the Chief Executive of the Tourism Export Council of New Zealand, the leading private sector industry voice, and experts on international tourism. The Tourism Export Council advocates and represents the interests of international tourism businesses. Council members bring in over 55% of all international visitors to NZ and their members are those that built and grew NZ’s $17.5bn tourism export sector over the past five decades. Lynda has 40 years’ experience in tourism across a range of sectors including hotels, marketing, education, regional tourism and international tourism consulting work in Vietnam, Cook Islands and South Asia.
Lynda knows the Hamilton Waikato tourism industry very well being a former Chief Executive of Tourism Waikato from 1998-2004.

Nicola Greenwell, Hamilton & Waikato Tourism – Hamilton & Waikato Tourism
Nicola oversees the day-to-day running of Hamilton & Waikato Tourism and manages the key relationships with funders, tourism operators, local communities, local government and national agencies for the organisation.

Rebecca Aston, FIFA Women's World Cup
Rebecca Aston is the Major Events Manager for H3 Group. Rebecca plays a vital role in bidding for major events for Hamilton city and ensuring the city and region come to life when major events take place. She has been involved with many major events over the last 6 years, including the 2017 British and Irish Lions Tour, 2017 Rugby League World Cup, 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, All Blacks test matches and four editions of the HSBC NZ Sevens.
Rebecca started working on the FIFA Women’s World Cup 4 years ago, having being involved in the original country bidding process. She is now working alongside FIFA to leave an impactful legacy from this event on the city and region.

Peter Birkett, Instep
With over 40 years' experience in the international specialist chemical industries, Peter has viewed first-hand the environmental and sustainability issues
that both industry and businesses face around the world. Now into its 16th year, Instep was founded by Peter in 2006 on returning to New Zealand after living and working in Hong Kong and Asia. Peter is excited to use and share his knowledge and experience from 'ground level' right through to the boardroom and on to government level. Instep was created specifically to assist businesses in order to meet the environmental challenges in today's business world.

Laura Cornall, Go with Tourism
Laura has spent the past few years working in events and with Air New Zealand and is a fantastic role model for Tourism tertiary education, having studied a BA of Tourism Management with a minor in Event Management at Lincoln University.
With incredible relationship and account management experience already under her belt, Laura is a key player in growing Go with Tourism’s network. She will be the go-to contact for anyone looking to build a partnership, collaborate, find staff or for jobseekers who need a helping hand.
