Yoga on the Maunga

Discover how to move with your breath and create space for yourself in native forest surroundings. Learn how General Hatha Yoga can help you feel better physically, and feel more connected internally, more fluid in your movements and more present to everyday life experiences.

Forest Flow incorporates a wide variety of standing and moving forms and walks with the intention of balancing and revitalising both body and mind. It involves a series of simple, gentle, flowing movements which are then repeated.

The schedule:
9.30am - Registration at our visitor centre
10.00am - Walk to Events Centre in southern enclosure
10.15am - Yoga session begins
12.00pm - Lunch time
1.00pm - Forest Flow begins
2.00pm - Farewell from Sanctuary Mountain

What to bring:
- A light blanket
- Lunch
- Water bottle
- Warm layers of clothing

About your guides:
Yoga
Fiona is a registered Yoga Alliance Teacher (E-RYT200) with nearly 20 years experience guiding General Hatha classes, including Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and private sessions of Yoga Therapy.

Fiona is passionate about the value of Yoga as preventative medicine and therapeutic treatment. She loves the science of Yoga and Craniosacral Therapy, and the art of applying these practices to daily life.

Forest Flow session
Rosie Cahalane is bringing you the Forest Flow session, she is a local instructor based in Te Awamutu. Rosie is highly experienced in mindful body movements, incorporating pilates, yoga and qigong techniques.

Rosie says "With the Forest Flow Experience, the graceful forms have a powerful meditative quality as well as being lots of fun. All fitness levels are welcome as the forms do not need to be complicated, precise, or technical to be beneficial."
