The Great NZ Muster

In the best Kiwi tradition, each year Te Kuiti puts on a show with the Great New Zealand Muster, celebrating its unofficial status as shearing capital of the world.

Te Kuiti’s main street will be transformed with displays and specials to capture your attention. Sheep themed signs will decorate shop fronts, sidewalks lined with fantastic products and tempting tidbits to all who pass.

This light-hearted event has grown in stature and attracts thousands from all over for a day of country entertainment. Featuring stalls, street theatre, buskers, bands, entertainment, sheep mustering and of course all things rural, this event makes for a great family day out.

Shearing Capital

It’s all very fitting for the town that produced world shearing legend David Fagan, five time World Champion Shearer. The Great NZ Muster coincides with the New Zealand Shearing Championships, and features the best shearers from around New Zealand along with some from across the world, fighting it out to be judged the fastest.
