This FREE, whānau friendly event is an opportunity to dip your toes into creativity, by viewing outstanding artwork by local creatives.
From 6 pm – 10 pm (weather permitting), we’ll be lighting up Hinemoa and Boyes Park with some favourites from last year’s pop-up festivals as well as some
new works including a live performance with projections onto Founders Theatre. Food trucks will be on-site so you can grab some kai and explore the
Te Ruru Light Festival a unique family-friendly cultural art experience in the heart of our city under the stars of Matariki. This annual event transforms Kirikiriroa (Hamilton) into an engaging world of light and art. The festival offers an opportunity for our community to dip their toes into creativity, by viewing outstanding artwork displayed by local creatives. The festival is free and for all ages, however, we specifically target young families as it is an opportunity for them to get out and spend time together in the winter.
The festival is a partnership between Wintec, Creative Waikato, and ACLX. However, this year we are working alongside Lauren Kerr-Bell and Kelli Pike to organise a pop-up event as part of Hamilton City Council’s ‘Innovating Streets Project’ along Rostrevor Street.
We are aiming for Friday, June 11th, however, if the weather is poor we have the 12/13th as backup nights.
