Okoroire Mid-winter Fun Ride

Brave the frosty winter morning and get your heart pumping with the Okoroire Mid-Winter Fun Ride.

The flat to undulating Waikato country roads make the 40km and 70km course suitable for most riders.

The 40km course is perfect for those new to road cycling, with a mainly flat route and a gentle climb into Tirau, while the 70km is great for those looking to step up a notch.

2012 saw Gordon McCauley and Aaron Strong set a time of 1 hour 45 minutes on the 70km track, only to be bettered in 2013 by Brad Tilby and Jim McMurray with a time of 1 hour 38 minutes.

While not an official race, the ride is timed, providing the opportunity to better your personal best, or claim bragging rights.
The ride also starts and finishes at the Okoroire Hot Springs Hotel, providing a great social atmosphere and the perfect excuse to make a weekend of it.
