Cambridge
Often called the town of trees and champions, Cambridge is admired for its leafy streets, heritage buildings, antique shops, eateries, and its winners – not only the gold medal cyclists that train at the Grassroots Trust Velodrome and the rowers at Lake Karapiro, but also the successful race horses bred at nearby thoroughbred stud farms.
Te Awamutu and Surrounds
Known as the ‘town of roses’ and surrounded by lush farmland, Te Awamutu (which in English means “The Rivers End”), is a significant contributor to the regions prosperous dairy industry. While away some time visiting Te Awamutu’s stunning rose gardens or the nearby attractively quaint village of Pirongia, with cafes, crafts and clydesdales.
Te Aroha
Situated 50 minutes north east of Hamilton is Te Aroha. Nestled at the foot of its mountain namesake, the historic Spa Town is famous for its natural hot soda water springs, gold mining and mountain hiking and biking trails.
Ōtorohanga
Ōtorohanga is located 45 minutes south of Hamilton on the way to the Waitomo Caves region and at just about every turn this town celebrates the national identity of New Zealand with displays of icons, heroes and traditions – and colourful hanging baskets of flowers along the main street.
Matamata and Surrounds
Local craftsmen and builders combined old-fashioned methods with modern technology to create the eye-catching Middle-earth-themed exterior of the Matamata i-SITE on the main street of this Waikato town.-
