May 18: The Grandstand refurb tops off busy month at Claudelands

Claudelands’ much-loved character function space The Grandstand is about to undergo a refurbishment – adding to an already busy month for the Hamilton venue.

The 140-year-old grandstand, which was originally built in Cambridge before being relocated to the Claudelands site in 1926, will have its interior repainted and improved lighting installed, as well as new furnishings to better reflect the unique character of the space.

“The Grandstand is such a treasure for Claudelands and our region, it is the perfect space for special celebrations like weddings, anniversaries and Christmas functions,” says Denise McRae, H3 Director of Business Development and Marketing.

“We’re excited to be giving this venue a much-deserved refurbishment and look forward to relaunching it to the market in late-June.”

Meanwhile the Claudelands team is being kept busy with an extensive event calendar.

“This month we’re hosting everything from Jimmy Barnes, Boyzlife and Ten Tenors, to WBOP Magic netball, Great NZ Food Show, Pasifika By Nature and Chopper, as well as the popular Hospice Waikato & Montana Catering Bucket List Banquet and National Young Leaders Day,” says Denise.

“Our conference facilities are also being put to good use with the likes of Women of Courage Conference, Combined Community Trust Conference, PRINZ Conference and In-House Lawyers Association of NZ Conference all happening in May.”
