The quaint settlement of Cambridge is close by. We were particularly drawn to the areas natural beauty, as was Peter Jackson when he chose to film his magical Hobbits here. However, it was the mighty Waikato river, woodland walks and verdant fields, home to New Zealand’s pre-eminent thoroughbred horse industry that drew us in. Following the devastating 2011 ‘quakes, we missed hosting and felt that this new ‘Hadleigh’ was really quite superb, a place we would be proud to share with our guests.

Cambridge is the Town of Trees and Champions, situated in the heart of the Waikato province It is well known for its equine industry and for its lush farmland. In addition to the many activities and attractions in Cambridge, Maungatautari Ecological Trust, Lake Karapiro, and Mystery Creek Event Center to name a few, several of the main Tourist attractions in New Zealand are approximately one hours drive from Cambridge e.g. Hobbiton,Waitomo, Rotorua, Tauranga, and Otorohanga, Raglan.

Somersal is an idyllic Bed and Breakfast Accommodation / Wedding Venue perched on the banks of the Waipa River in Pirongia, Waikato - just 30 minutes north from the Waitomo Caves, 20 minutes from Hamilton and only 10 minutes drive from Te Awamutu.
