The Oar & Paddle boasts the best view of Lake karapiro on the sunny, sheltered left bank. Ideal accommodation for family or groups of friends, wedding preparation and a honeymoon hideaway. Bike trails and walks are close at hand at Te Awa over-water boardwalk cycle way, only minutes from your door. Follow the boardwalk to the Mighty River Domain and the Don Rowlands Centre, or simply view the rowing course right from your room. Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari and many adventure activities are at your doorstep. The Oar & Paddle offers a grandstand view of the rowing, canoe racing, New Zealand Grand Prix (NZGP) Hydroplanes, Waterski Racing and Waka Ama. The Oar & Paddle is right in the middle of Middle Earth only 18km away from Hobbiton.

Our bespoke studio (built and decorated by Chris and Amanda) is a real little gem. You’ll love enjoying a cuppa in the morning while taking in the view across the gully the gully bank, which we’re restoring with native trees. The bird song makes for a peaceful start to the day. Champion Rest is centrally located, and is a stones throw away from Hamilton Airport, Mystery Creek Event Centre, Lake Karapiro, Hamilton Gardens, Avantidrome and Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari. We’re just a short bike ride away from Te Awa River Ride path, which leads to all sorts of great places including the award-winning Hamilton Gardens, the town of Cambridge and Hamilton City. We provide breakfast - tea, coffee, herb tea, toast and spreads and muesli.

Narrows Park is Hamilton's most affordable and only rural holiday park set on 27 acres with cabin accommodation, powered sites and acres of tenting. It is ideal for group accommodation or individual campers 10min from Hamilton City. The Waikato river is on the boundary, the Narrows golf course is next door and Mystery Creek and the Hamilton Airport are 2minutes away. Offering over 100 beds, plus buildings the Narrows is also ideal for accommodating groups. This is a great spot to base yourself for sports tournaments, Mystery Creek events or when you just want a bit of country space to see the stars at night.
